We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with experience in stroke and neurological rehabilitation to join our Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS).

This modern service follows the national model and is delivered by a skilled multidisciplinary team offering rehabilitation at various intensities:

  • Early Supported Discharge (ESD): High-intensity rehab for up to 6 weeks post-discharge for mild-moderate new stroke.
  • Neurological Enhanced Transition Team (NETT): High-intensity rehab for up to 6 weeks post-discharge for moderate-severe stroke or other neurological conditions.
  • Community Stroke Team: Long-term stroke rehab support.

This is an exciting 9-month opportunity, available as a fixed-term contract or secondment. It’s a fantastic role for someone passionate about neuro and eager to join a forward-thinking, supportive, and enjoyable team. You’ll work alongside experts, with plenty of opportunities to learn, grow, and be challenged.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, an adaptable approach, and the ability to work confidently within stroke guidelines while contributing to the development of our stroke pathway.

The ICSS includes ESD, Neuro Enhanced Transition Team (NETT) and stroke community pathway. To assess and treat own caseload of clients who are within the stroke pathway. To work within professional standards and clinical guidelines, promote best practice and to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

To build up and maintain key relationships with referring services to facilitate appropriate referrals supporting the coordinator where required.

To take lead role for occupational therapy, prioritising and ensuring a timely response for assessments.

To be responsible for the supervision and line management of junior staff, including Band 6 occupational therapists, rehabilitation assistants and occupational therapy students.

To support self and service development through active participation in continuing professional development (CPD) and by participating in any audit or research being undertaken by the service.
