Highly Specialist Hand Therapist
Band 7
Fixed term/Secondment: Ends 30/11/26
(Part-time hours will be considered)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the hand therapy team at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee on a fixed term/secondment basis to cover maternity leave. This post will support the orthopaedic and plastic surgery hand services within NHS Tayside in a variety of specialist clinics. This post is open to suitably qualified physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
As a Highly Specialist clinician you will join a team of 6 therapists and will work closely with the team lead and the Clinical Lead for Trauma Therapy to identify and develop opportunities for service improvement within the plastic surgery hand service. It is expected that this will increase capacity within the service and allow for increased AHP involvement in traditionally medical led clinics.
The candidate will have proven skills within hand therapy and have the ability to work autonomously at a highly specialist level. You will have a caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge, contribute to supervision, education and development of less experienced staff, support workers and students within the speciality. Provide a specialised resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness and Research. The department has strong links with universities providing student placements primarily from Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Informal enquiries/ visits are welcome. Please contact Christopher Taylor, Clinical Lead, Trauma Therapy – 01382 425 626 or chris.taylor2@nhs.scot
Hours of work are: 37 per week
