Job overview

We are delighted to be able to advertise for a permanent 7-8a Preceptorship / 8A Highly Specialised Clinical Psychologist position within the ‘Complex Emotional and Relational Needs’ (CERN) Pathways in Oldham.

The successful candidate will be joining the team at an exciting time for psychological therapies.  Several national and local policy documents have set out ambitions for whole service re-design.  These ambitions are aligned with psychological therapy values and principles leading the development of services that are; needs led, grounded in a biopsychosocial, trauma and attachment/relationally informed approach and formulation driven.

Pennine Care has developed several evidence-based interventions/services specifically for people presenting with CERN needs.  These include: ‘Structured Clinical Management’ (SCM), ‘Dialectical Behaviour Therapy’ (DBT), ‘Democratic Therapeutic Community’ (DTC), ‘Mentalisation Based Therapy’ (MBT), ‘Cognitive Analytic Therapy’ (CAT) and ‘Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Personality Disorders’ (CBT-PD).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Work closely with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist / Clinical Lead for CERN Pathways Oldham to support and develop the CERN offer.
  • Provide specialist evidence-based psychological interventions for service users presenting with CERN needs, (i.e. ‘Mentalisation Based Therapy’, ‘and ‘Dialectical Behaviour Therapy’), as agreed depending on service priorities.
  • Be an integral part of the ‘Structured Clinical Management’ (SCM) team offering individual and team clinical supervision, clinical consultation, clinical leadership, governance, and quality assurance.
  • Work closely with other people, professionals and services that interact with service users that present with CERN needs, (in particular, supporting local Community Mental Health Teams by providing regular consultation).

Support the development and provision of staff training on CERN needs within the trust.

Key Requirements of the Person Specification: You must have a demonstrable commitment to work with service users with complex emotional and relational needs (CERN).
