Job summary

Main duties of the job

South Tyneside and Sunderland Audiology Service provides a district level adult rehabilitation service and a sub-regional level service (including Tier 3 paediatric assessment & rehabilitation and diagnostic audiology). There are 33 staff in the department, including 23 Healthcare Scientists, up to 2 Trainee Clinical Scientists/Audiologists, 1 Audiology Assistant and 5 Admin & Clerical Support. Key responsibilities of the role include:

- Contributing to the departments DM01 position by leading diagnostic appointments within the adult service

- Performing tinnitus therapy and other adult rehabilitation, delivering tailored management plans

- Taking a lead role in the development of a service for adults with severe-profound hearing loss

- Leading development and service improvement initiatives in the adult audiology stream

- Engaging in research, training and quality improvement initiatives
