Post holders will work in the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression Service to provide high intensity interventions three days per week, whilst studying at the University of Exeter on the other two days each week with some block weeks of training. You will attend all training with Exeter University. The intensive training will equip the post holder to provide a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) service to clients with depression and anxiety disorders for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.

Please note the high intensity interventions are delivered through a hybrid model. Both in person and remote working will be required.

Applicants are expected to be able to commit to all training dates to ensure they meet the minimum training standards and course attendance requirements. Upon successful completion and award of the University of Exeter qualification, you will be eligible to apply for a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (Band 7) post with the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression Service, dependent on vacancies being available. Please note this is not guaranteed.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will either have a recognised core professional training qualification or will be able to provide evidence that that they have practiced within the career framework of training in mental health and can produce a completed KSA Portfolio at interview. Please note that in accordance with national Guidance, PWPs cannot be recruited as HI CBT trainees until 2 years post qualification, as a minimum.  These 2 years of practice commence only at the date of confirmation of the full PWP qualification by the University, not at the end of the teaching timetable.  Significant mental health experience prior to taking up a PWP role will also be expected. This standard is monitored nationally by the BABCP.

Interviews with Cornwall and Isles of Scilly NHS Talking Therapies and the University of Exeter will be offered virtually at a to be agreed date.

There will be an aim to commence employment at the start of December to ensure a  robust induction period  prior to commencing the course in January.
