Job summary

Gateshead Talking Therapies is an award-winning Talking Therapies service and among the highest performing Talking Therapies services at both regional and national level. There is recognition that staff can realise their potential through effective clinical and management supervision, managerial support, and through access to internal and external training. Staff development and their wellbeing are accepted as a vital priority, and we have a long-established Wellbeing Strategy Group which develops wellbeing initiatives for the service. You will deliver interventions as part of Talking Therapies and will have experience of providing psychological therapies in primary care. You will be expected to use traditional and innovative treatment methods using NICE High Intensity Therapies such as CBT, IPT, EMDR

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be expected to deliver interventions in a developing primary care setting and play a full part in the effective development and operation of the whole of the service. Regular supervision is an important aspect of the work of the service.

The High Intensity Therapist will be expected to have

  • A post graduate qualification or degree in a High Intensity Therapy such as CBT, IPT, EMDR.
  • Experience of working to support the mental health needs of adults in primary care.
  • Comprehensive mental health assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Skills in the delivery of relevant therapeutic interventions.
  • Ability to offer consultation and advice to a broad range of professionals and work co-operatively to deliver joint interventions with a range of providers.

The post holder will be part of Gateshead Talking Therapies Service which incorporates Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT). They will work with adults who have a range of common mental health problems in primary care using NICE high intensity treatment interventions such as CBT, IPT, EMDR, CAT, Counselling for Depression. They will use traditional and innovative treatment methods.

Will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities
