Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Cardiac department for highly motivated, confident and forward thinking individuals to work as band 3 healthcare assistants.

We have full time and part time positions available with a mixture of long days and nights, Monday - Sunday within our cardiac wards - A7/CCU, C8 ward, and A9 ward at Hammersmith Hospital.

A7 is a 25-bedded inpatient cardiology ward incorporating a 5-bedded coronary care unit (CCU) and 20 step-down beds including monitoring and telemetry. A7 is the predominant receiving unit for patients admitted via our Heart Assessment Centre running the 24/7 primary PCI and arrhythmia service that covers North West London.

C8 comprises of 18 mixed cardiology and care of elderly beds caring for pulmonary hypertension patients requiring assessment and ongoing treatment, heart failure patients needing stabilisation of their condition and TAVI patients' pre/post procedure are all cared for within this setting.

A9 ward is a 20-bedded Cardiothoracic Surgical ward caring for patients with complex cardiac and thoracic needs both pre and post-surgery. As well as taking step downs from ITU following extensive Cardiac surgery our service is evolving and Enhanced Recovery for Thoracic Surgery has been introduced.

You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine enthusiasm for providing high quality, individualised patient centered care.
