Job overview

We are currently seeking  an enthusiastic Healthcare Science assistant (band 2) wishing to develop their skills within our rapidly developing Cardiac Physiology department. This post is fixed term/secondment for 1 year to cover maternity leave. The department offers a broad range of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic tests, including ECG’s, a wide range of ambulatory monitoring, physiologist-led/medically supervised ETT, Echocardiography, Cardiac Device implantation and follow-up (pacemakers, resynchronisation and high voltage devices) as well as diagnostic Cardiac Catheterisation.

We are looking to appoint a Healthcare Science assistants to support the qualified Cardiac Physiologist’s. The successful candidate will need to work as part of our team and possess the initiative and drive to complement the responsibility of this role.

Main duties of the job

To assist the Clinical Physiologists to provide an effective and efficient cardiac physiology diagnostic service by performing basic cardiac investigations.

This includes performing routine and urgent electrocardiograms (ECG's), ambulatory monitoring (ECG and blood pressure)  in line with SCST guidelines, on adult and paediatric patients within Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB.

They will work as part of the team alongside Cardiac Physiologists and Healthcare Scientists providing help, support and care to all patients attending the Echocardiography Service.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
