Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Healthcare Facilitator/ Phlebotomist to join our Primary Health Care team at West London Forensic Services. The post holder will cover both community clinics and inpatient areas. Due to the service requirement, you will be working part time 22 hours per week- Monday to Thursday 07.30 to 13.00.

The post involves performing venepuncture, ECGs, BP monitoring and general assistance to the practice nursing team. It also involves monitoring patients’ mental and physical health, coordinating clozapine clinics and working closely with MDT to ensure the wellbeing of patients and monitoring issues.

The successful candidate will need to have good interpersonal skills, a caring attitude and good organisational skills. This is a highly responsible job, working with a team of dedicated professional staff. Previous work experience is essential and you will be expected to work on your own initiative but will be fully supported at all time.

Main duties of the job

The aims of this post are to improve the care and monitoring of all patients in West London Forensic Services who are prescribed Clozapine, Lithium, HDAT and other medications. The post holder will cover both community clinics and inpatient areas.

This involves taking performing venepuncture and ECGs, monitoring patients mental and physical health, coordinating clozapine clinics and liaising closely with patients, carers, MDT and others to ensure the wellbeing of patients and to promote the general understanding of medication and monitoring issues.

To provide a wide range of physical health monitoring and treatment services to inpatients and working with other members of the physical healthcare team to participate in health promotion initiatives, education programmes and supporting inpatient staff.

The post holder will be responsible for contributing to healthcare under the supervision of a registered member of staff providing a recovery focused approach to physical, psychological, social, recreational and spiritual care to service users.

The post holder will carry out duties as designated by the nurse in charge and report on the patient’s condition. They will maintain the orderliness, hygiene and safety of the ward environment and will be required to undertake routine clerical duties
