This is a fantastic opportunity to take your first steps into a career in the NHS as a Healthcare Cleaning Operative within the theatre department at Wye Valley NHS Trust.

We have a number of full time and part time opportunities available to applicants with or without previous health care experience, who are wanting to develop a career in health care.

Our Healthcare Cleaning Operatives are a vital part of the theatre team ensuring that our theatres are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards.  You will work as part of a team and will be trained in all aspects of domestic duties in a very busy clinical environment.

Main duties of the job

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work as part of a team, with support and guidance . You will have scope to take responsibility for developing your own skills and demonstrate a commitment to learning.

  • To work as part of a team to maintain levels of cleanliness in the theatre environment in line with the national standards of cleanliness.
  • To carry out a wide range of cleaning duties and adhere to infection prevention standards to ensure the environment is clean and tidy.
  • To ensure the equipment and materials are used and stored safely.
  • To ensure correct waste disposal procedures.
  • To minimize hazards in the working area and report any identifiable hazards to the line manager.
  • To adhere to all safe systems of work applicable to the work area.
  • To demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, to ensure dissemination of information.
  • To maintain confidentiality at all times.

The Healthcare Cleaning Operative have the following core shifts:               0800-1400;  1500-2100; 1800-0200; 2000-0200   Candidates will be expected to be flexible within these shift times.
