- An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Health Care Assistant to support us in delivering rehabilitation and care at Salvington Lodge Intermediate care Unit. We are looking for someone who can work flexibly to cover long days, some short days and nights. You will work as a member of the team ensuring the effective and safe delivery of care to patients whilst under the guidance, instruction and supervision of our team of nurses, ACP and Doctors. Main duties of the job
Our community hospitals, called Intermediate Care Units, support inpatients with short-term recovery and rehabilitation. We aim to provide a service that supports patients to live independently and return home when it is safe for them to do so.
Salvington Lodge provides short term rehabilitation for individuals over 18 years of age. Individuals are referred for rehabilitation following an acute worsening in their health such as infection, an acute hospital admission following illness or surgery, a fall or an adjustment of complex medication.
The role will be assisting to provide care for patients on the unit to help their recovery and rehabilitation. This will involve providing help with tasks including personal care and assisting with meals.
The candidate should be friendly and be able to communicate well with both patients and colleagues in a professional manner to support and maintain a positive attitude and outlook within the multi disciplinary team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Supports the team in ensuring the maintenance of high standards of nursing care.
- Maintains the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of patients, relatives and colleagues at all times.
- Supports the Unit in maintaining accurate documentation including the registering of patients on SystmOne and updating of their personal data.
- Ensures that all equipment is kept in a safe condition and is ready for use when required, and that faulty equipment is reported and/or replaced as necessary.
- Supports others in the application of local standards, policies and philosophies which further the philosophy of patient centred, individual and evidence based care for all patients.
- Is aware of legislation and responsibilities under the Health & Safety at work act. Maintains a safe environment with regard to Risk Management policies and procedures. Is aware of and follows policies and procedures with regard to patients, themselves, other members of staff, equipment and the general public.
- To report personal sickness and absence appropriately.
- Participates in the Performance Development Review process.
- To undertake training and professional development as required, complete own Mandatory training and identify own development needs to keep updated as needed and maintain clinical and professional credibility
