We are inviting motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistants to attend our Recruitment Open Day, where candidates will complete literacy and numeracy assessments as part of the selection process. Successful candidates will be invited to a formal interview on a separate date, to be held on Wednesday 25 February 2026, Monday 2 March 2026, or Tuesday 3 March 2026.

We are recruiting for Central Middlesex Hospital, Ealing Hospital, and Northwick Park Hospital, across all divisions and specialties.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work as part of the multidisciplinary team, maintaining positive working relationships with patients, relatives, and colleagues while delivering high-quality patient care.

You will be responsible for supporting patients’ physical, emotional, and personal care needs under the direction of qualified nursing staff.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain good working relationships with patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team
  • Respond to enquiries from patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring confidentiality at all times
  • Support patients’ individual needs in line with their care plans
  • Assist with personal hygiene, bathing, and skin care
  • Report any changes in skin condition to qualified staff
  • Carry out eye, mouth, skin, and hair care under supervision
  • Obtain specimens (e.g. urine and blood) under the direction of a qualified nurse
  • Support patients during minor procedures
  • Assist with patient positioning, movement, and exercises using correct moving and handling techniques
  • Undertake clinical observations, including temperature, pulse, respirations, peak flow, and blood pressure
  • Demonstrate understanding of asepsis and infection prevention
  • Support nursing staff in delivering safe and effective care
