Band 2 Healthcare Assistant (Development) We invite you to participate in one of our assessment centres, where we will assess your numeracy, literacy, listening, and IT skills. Successful candidates will then be invited to interview for a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant (Development) role.

All candidates appointed to a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant (Development) role are required to complete the Care Certificate and progress to a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant position within their first 6 months of service.

Main duties of the job

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is keen to recruit enthusiastic and motivated people to join our hospital as Healthcare Assistant.

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals who have an interest in starting a career in healthcare and would like to gain highly sought after NHS experience in the areas of an acute hospital setting. A caring nature, good communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop are essential.

The post holder will provide high quality essential care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Practitioner in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner:

  • Provides supervision and guidance to junior / less-experienced staff.
  • Acting always in the patient’s best interests.
  • Protecting and maintaining the patient’s privacy and dignity at all times.
  • Providing individualised care for a diverse group of patients respecting personal beliefs and preferences.
  • Alert the Registered Practitioner and/or Ward/ Department Manager to any change or concern relating to the welfare of the patient in a timely manner.
  • Undertake specific clinical skills relevant to clinical area following training and assessment of competence e.g. performing venepuncture, cannulation and escorting patients.
  • Provides enhanced levels of care to patients requiring additional supervision and support to ensure their personal safety and wellbeing needs are met.

Please note we are currently recruiting candidates who are able to work full time (37.5hours per week) on a rota basis, 7 days a week (including bank holidays) on day and night shifts.
