We are looking for a highly motivated female individual to design, implement and co-ordinate a health promotion programme. To promote the National Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) and encourage uptake of breast screening across the 4 screening districts. A post graduate degree or equivalent (Msc) standard.
We are an integrated Breast Service responsible for both the symptomatic service in the Bradford district and the NHS Breast Screening Programme covering the districts of Airedale, Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees. The service is administered from the dedicated Pennine mammography suite at St Luke's Hospital in Bradford, with 4 mobile units going out into the community.

To design, implement and co-ordinate a health promotion programme to promote the National Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) and encourage uptake of breast screening across the 4 screening districts.
To establish build and maintain effective communication and working relationships with external agencies, Health trusts, ICB's, General Practitioners, primary care teams and community support workers.
To identify groups which are under-represented, identify barriers to the service for these groups and develop a strategy and action plan to increase uptake in these groups.
To raise awareness, understanding and uptake of the NHSBSP amongst women from minority ethnic communities plus other vulnerable groups in the areas covered by the screening programme.
To develop and maintain a complete contacts database and keep full records of all health promotion activity to maintain the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
To provide detailed feedback reports using the NBSS system for all GP Practices and external agencies within the screening districts, particularly with regard to uptake, coverage and significant findings.
To provide performance data and anonymised benchmarking and advising GP's appropriately.
Maintain and further develop a health promotion programme/strategy designed to promote the NHSBSP and assist in maintaining the minimum target for uptake of ≥70% and achieve the desired target of ≥80% across all screening sites considering ethnicity, disabilities, and socioeconomic status. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/breast-screening-helping-women-decide/nhs-breast-screening-helping-you-decide
Co-ordinate and participate in education and awareness sessions for health professionals and members of the public using a range of venues techniques and media formats relevant to the target population.
Supervise colleagues (Radiographers and Administration Assistants) during education and awareness sessions.
In collaboration with other public health professionals implement a range of initiatives within the target population particularly focussed on populations where low uptake of breast screening is observed.
Promote equality, diversity, and rights to ensure that any potential health inequalities resulting from the screening programme are reduced.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to own area of work.
Liaise with ICB’s and health promotion staff locally and within the NHSBSP to encourage sharing of information and develop best practices.
Disseminate research and audit findings through presentation to professional groups and publication.
Establish effective communication links with health professionals and a range of community/ voluntary groups and develop and maintain a promotion contacts database.
Contribute to the business and strategic planning for the screening unit, providing specialist expert knowledge and advice.
To build and maintain good working relationships with GP practices and the healthcare community. Develop and forward relevant written notification and complete feedback reports to GPs using the NBSS system.
To be responsible for the ordering and stock control of health promotion materials and to ensure those materials are current.
To be responsible for the maintenance and care of all Health Promotion related equipment.
To plan and undertake visits in the community to GP practices prior to screening each area to promote involvement and provide accurate information about the NHSBSP.
Implement promotion strategies for the breast screening programme to women in the minority ethnic communities and other vulnerable groups. To improve access of the service to minority ethnic women and other vulnerable groups overcoming language and cultural barriers.
Participate in reviewing and planning the mobile unit locations and identify suitable sites for screening.
To maintain and contribute the quality management system to continually improve best practice.
To take responsibility for providing a clean and safe environment within your area of work.
To perform any other duties appropriate to the post that may be allocated by the Breast Imaging Service Administration Manager or Principal Superintendent.
