Main duties of the job

  • To organise and supervise age appropriate play / recreational activities for individual and groups of children and young people in hospital, according to their individual needs and as part of the overall plan.
  • To plan a programme of daily play activities for the playroom, ensuring supervision and safety at all times.
  • To provide play based observations to support the overall assessment of the child.
  • To respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of children and young people and their families, and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.
  • To use knowledge of child development when selecting play activities

  • Ability to work as a lone Play Team worker following instruction and supervision by a member of senior therapy staff.
