PAEDIATRIC UNIT
CHILDREN’S OUTPATIENTS DEPARTMENT - TINKERBELL
HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT
Band 3 (or Band 2 until completion of care certificate)
36 Hours per week
(set shift pattern, with a need for flexibility)
Monday 10.00 – 18.00
Tuesday 09.00 – 18.00
Wednesday 09.00 - 17.00
Thursday 09.00 – 17.00
Friday 12.00 – 17.00
An opportunity has arisen to appoint a new member of staff to the team in our busy Children’s Outpatients Department.
The successful applicant will need to be motivated, calm under pressure and have good organisational abilities and keyboard / computer skills. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
The successful applicant will be involved in reception duties, such as using our computerised booking system to book patients in on arrival and the administration duties associated with preparing the department for clinics.
Experience with children and an ability to adapt to a changing environment are essential.
Although the home base of this post is Tinkerbell the staff member may be asked to support other paediatric areas as needed
To deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients attending the Paediatric Outpatients Department and other children’s clinics within the Trust under the supervision of the nurse in charge.
Following appropriate training and assessment perform clerical, reception and administrative duties using the Trusts EPR system to ensure the smooth running of all paediatric clinics.
Participate in clinic preparation to ensure all information required at the consultation is within the clinical record and available to the clinician.
Ensure all clinics are appropriately closed at the end of the clinic session and all onward referrals and appointments have been made.
Following appropriate training and competency assessment perform clinical duties as directed by the nurse in charge such as blood pressure monitoring and phlebotomy for those children and young people attending the outpatient department.
