We are looking for a experienced HCA with or working towards NVQ LEVEL 3 to support our nursing team.

We are looking for an individual who are passionate about providing high standards of nursing care and are  keen to develop further. You must be  enthusiastic team players who have excellent communication and organisation skills.

Main duties of the job

Ward 5B is a fast paced 28 bedded Urology ward.  We are looking for someone who prides themselves on excellent care and communication skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Assisting the Registered Nursing team in safe care delivery and management of patients within the Ward area.

Cannulation and venepuncture  training will be provided. Observation training will be arranged.

Promoting effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team and takes measures to overcome communication difficulties

General bed making/making up of clean beds in readiness for new admissions. (Refer to policy for the care of mattresses and beds). Clear and clean vacated bed spaces and prepare ready for use according to demand.

Helping to prepare patients for theatre

Prepare used linen bags for collection by Porters and ensure adequate supply of linen bags/skips ready for use.

Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas. Safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps as per Trust policy Be familiar with Trust policy and procedure for reporting clinical incidents, reporting of incidents if they occur. Attend to the needs of visitors and patients particularly those who may be distressed or bereaved.  Care for patients property, including valuables, in accordance with Trust policy. Obtain demographic details and social history from patients/visitors to assist in the admission process. Provide support and assistance to new and junior members of staff.
