Cardiac Day Care Unit (Cardiac Cath Lab) is currently looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, good team player, for a Band 3 health care assistant with excellent clinical skill and experienced worked in a Cath lab area to complement our friendly multidisciplinary team, the clinical team to provide a high standard of patient care which is in accordance with agreed nursing practice and Trust Policy, through the provision of basic nursing care and housekeeping duties. To rotate through all clinical areas to meet service needs.

we not only are providing pre and post care to patients undergoing coronary angiography, pacemaker insertion, pacemaker generator changes,ILR insertion and removal and TOE recovery. We have one Cath lab with a recovery area a Heart Failure Unit. We are providing an Ambulatory Heart Failure service to the whole of Liverpool.

We work Monday to Friday. The successful candidate would rotate between the cardiac day case recovery area, Ambulatory Heart Failure

Service and within the cardiology directorate. It is a small busy unit that provides excellent service to our service users. we have a great and

friendly team and supportive to each other

Main duties of the job

Check and prepare all transfer trolleys and wheelchairs– i.e. Oxygen, suction, resuscitation equipment, linen and replace, as required.

To transfer patients to and from all clinical areas.

Preparation of clinical area prior to procedure, by ensuring correct function of equipment, reporting any discrepancies and that there are adequate supplies of supplementary items.

Assist in the preparation of Cath lab prior to list or procedure.

Carry out venipuncture, TR band removal post Angiogram, recording of vital signs and recording in NEWS chart, complete WHO checklist pre.

Assist in the cleaning of clinical areas , complete daily  ward cleaning checklist and equipment, ensuring that the area is clear of potential hazards i.e. blood products, clinical waste and contaminated items to relevant collection areas.Take delivery of stock, check in relevant items and store all supplies and equipment for the clinical area.

Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained – e.g. of linen and clinical equipment and report discrepancies. Order and replace as appropriate.Complete all documentation as per local policies – e.g. cardiac care pathway, care plans or electronic record. Attend mandatory training and reviews as local policy. Be willing to undertake further training relevant to role.Participate in performance review process and achieve objectives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be working under the supervision of a registered nurse assisting the department team in providing the highest possible standard of care

for the patients.

Provision of patient’s toiletings needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.

Assist patients with their toileting and mobility needs.

Assist in prevention of pressure sore development as directed by registered nurse in conjunction with the patients plan of care.

Obtaining specimens from patients from ward or laboratory testing.

Removal of Cannula and recording accurate care plan.

Undertake TR Band removal under ANTT and apply appropriate dressing .

collection of blood products from laboratory as requested.

Request investigations using ICE as directed by registered nurse.

Chaperoning and escorting patients to clinical department within the hospital and to other hospitals for investigation.

General and clinical observations of patients, reporting anything untoward to registered nurse.

Recording blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiratory rate. Oxygen saturation and urine output.

Undertake blood glucose monitoring, venipuncture, I-STAT, INR with POC machine upon direction of registered nurse.

Perform PICC line dressing under the direction of registered nurse and has been signed competent.

Initiate Basic Life Support techniques as appropriate and assist to the registered nurse as requited in prolonged resuscitation situation.

Safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps as per Trust policy.

Complete maintenance repair forms.To comply with safety policies, procedures and guidelines for self and others. eg Radiation protocol
