Job overview

An exiting opportunity has arisen to be part of the innovative and expanding Mental Health Team at HMP Buckley Hall. We want to recruit an enthusiastic Health and Wellbeing Practitioner to help us transform the service we offer our residents.

HMP Buckley Hall is a Male Cat C prison located in Rochdale.

The Mental Health service combines Primary and secondary care services across an integrated stepped care model. Having successfully retained the contract to deliver MH services at Buckley Hall we have the opportunity to expand and innovate.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to shape our service and positively effect the lives of some of our most marginalised and hard to reach community members.

All applicants MUST have been resident in the UK for last two years - NPPS cannot complete enhanced background checks otherwise.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded and innovative mental health service inside HMP Buckley Hall. The service principles are based around social therapy, and we have an extensive offer of social prescribing activities that the successful applicant will help facilitate and develop. As such an interest or talent in creative arts, crafts or horticulture would be an advantage, as would a knowledge of Core CBT skills and to be able to deliver low intensity psychologically informed interventions for anxiety and depression.

The post holder will work with and support the mental health team. You will be proficient, competent and require minimum direct supervision in achieving the following:

  • Working in close proximity with mental health service users and their carers where appropriate.
  • Working flexibly and responsively to provide support and assistance to meet the assessed mental health needs of the service and service users.
  • Working collaboratively across a range of disciplines to continuously develop expertise in assisting team members to achieve positive health care outcomes for service users.
  • Promoting the health, well being and mental health of service users  and carers.
  • Promoting the development of the role to support and promote skill mix and workforce modernisation within their service areas.
  • Facilitate and develop group therapies/activities
