Job overview

This is an exciting time to join us as Head of Nursing in our Adult Community Mental Health Directorate.

We are developing new and initiative models of care including primary care mental health as well as secondary mental health services, looking at our nursing workforce and utilising new and developmental roles.

We want our nurses to be the best they can be to ensure our patients get the outcomes they deserve, you will be part of leading that work and seeing the difference we can make to the people we serve.

Main duties of the job

The Head of nursing will be a member of the CMH management team, and represent the directorate at the Trust Nursing Executive.

The Head of nursing will provide nursing leadership and have professional responsibility for all nurses within the directorate.

Through leading the delivery of the nursing strategy within their area they will ensure that nursing practice is of a high quality and is focused on the Oxleas values. They will ensure that care is delivered with kindness dignity and respect and the provision of a skilled and person-centred nursing service to service users their carers and families.

As the professional lead for nursing, they will provide advice and guidance to managers and other professional leads and take the lead on initiatives to improve nursing care.

They will provide professional advice relating to national and local policy, nursing workforce issues, referring to the Nursing Directorate and Nursing and Midwifery Council guidance (where appropriate) ensuring nurses are accountable for their practice.

The postholder will also lead on the Patient safety agenda for the directorate ensuring all standards are met and that we maintain robust links with the Trust patient safety team.
