The Dorset Healthcare Community based Dermatology Service provides an assessment, diagnostic and treatment service in a range of community locations across Dorset. We are currently looking to recruit a GPwER or GP with a Special Interest in Dermatology to cover a minimum of 1 session per week.

Outpatient Assessment Medical sessions will be paid at £222.00 per session and Minor Ops Surgical sessions at £370.00 per session
Whilst predominantly a GPwER service we are currently welcoming applicants who have experience of secondary care dermatology provision as we seek to build upon on relationships with acute partners to improve patient pathways.
The role includes providing a safe, high quality based care for patients within the Community setting and be able to have full confidence in working on their own initiative and also be able to work as part of a Team consisting of other Clinicians and Administrative staff. We seek a clinician able to undertake both medical management as well as minor surgery for Dermatology.
A Health Care Assistant will be present to assist during each clinic.
Our aim is to deliver a high quality dermatology service within a community setting, improve patient choice, reduce waiting times, improve education in primary care and to reduce inappropriate referrals to secondary care.
You will need to have a Diploma in Dermatology as well as some experience of delivering Dermatology clinics beyond that of General Practice. You will be supported to seek mentorship arrangements with a secondary care consultant and will be required to be flexible to enable this to happen.
Provide safe, high quality, cost effective and evidence based care for patients meeting the Community Dermatology Service eligibility criteria
Run assessment and diagnosis clinics for both new and follow up Dermatology patients
Recognise and follow the correct pathway for the management of patients with non malignant, pre-malignant and malignant lesions Ensure patient consent is requested and recorded as appropriate
Prescribe topical agents (including topical diclofenac, 5 Fluorouracil/Efudix and Imiquimod)
Perform Cryotherapy
Explain the risks and benefits of treatment options and involve patients in decisions about their management;
Work to agreed local clinical protocols for referral, treatment and follow up ensuring that appropriate and timely referrals to secondary care are made with particular adherence to Dorset Evidence based intervention (EBI) protocols.
Update dermatology practice on a regular basis and undertake CPD as agreed participating in a continuing programme of clinical supervision
Undergo appraisal and revalidation as per GMC requirements
Participate in educational sessions for local general practitioners and the wider primary care team to raise the standard of dermatology knowledge and skills within the community;
Undertake an agreed audit programme; recommending and originating areas for audit, review or development
Be conversant with the Incident Reporting system
Participate in the review of the Community Dermatology Service, identifying areas of good practice and sharing suggestions for improvement
Promote and raise awareness of the Community Dermatology Service
