General Manager, Corporate Medical Services B8c - 37.5 hours available -

The post holder will be a highly motivated and effective manager with leadership and influencing skills. The post holder will have the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve teams to work towards and achieve the objectives as set out by the Executive Medical Director and the Trust Board.

The individual will work closely with the Associate Director for Corporate Medical Services, and members of the Medical Directorate and Medical Education teams to deliver a range of key outcomes.

The role is instrumental in leading and maintaining a medical leadership structure that is cohesive with the integrated model of service delivery in the North Cumbria system.

Main duties of the job

The Medical Directorate acts as a driver for quality improvements throughout the organisation. Alongside the Executive Chief Nurse and the clinical teams, the Medical Directorate works towards providing care of the highest quality, that achieves the best possible outcomes, and regulatory and care quality ratings.

The Medical Directorate ensures compliance against the Executive Medical Director’s statutory and regulatory functions. Maintaining effective links with medical training organisations is an essential feature of the Directorate, as is the requirement to ensure all medical staff maintain their registered professional requirements and are revalidated and appraised to high standards.

In delivering its functions, the Medical Directorate works together with the other Executive teams and Collaboratives.

The Medical Education department supports the development and implementation of innovative and contemporary practice. The department ensures that medical support systems are in place, allowing all medical staff to develop individually and professionally.

The Medical Education Department includes commissioned education services from NHS England, with NCIC NHS FT acting as a Local Education Department. This area includes the management and development of Medical Education activity and schedules to support and deliver NHS England’s Education Contract within the Trust.

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

Please note the cost of the DBS check is increasing from 2nd December and the new cost will be

Standard DBS check £21.50, Enhanced DBS check £49.50 + any admin costs.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
