Fixed Term Post for 10 months

Part Time – 20 hours per week

Friday 1100 – 1500 Saturday & Sunday 0830 – 1730

Hourly rate of pay - Friday £13.87, Saturday £18.40, Sunday £24.00

Band 2 - Salary Range £24,647 - £26,763 per annum (pro rata)

Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £2,380 per annum (pro rata)

A vacancy has arisen for a Food Service Assistant within our main production kitchen. Good food is essential to patient care. Catering teams provide freshly cooked meals that meet patients needs, the catering department also provide meals to the canteen for staff and visitors to access. A Food Service Assistant plays an important role within the catering team, providing support in preparing food trollies, ensuring equipment is washed and cleaned, supporting the Chef with basic food prep and more.

We believe in supporting each other to achieve this and to help give staff and visitors as comfortable an experience as we can.

We’re looking for people who share our team-working ethos and who have a keen interested in catering. With a good level of basic education and good communication skills, you will need to be able to follow instructions so you can take part in the initial training and induction, which takes place when you start. From there, your manager and colleagues will give you the support you need while you complete your on the job training.

The work you do in the Catering team will be essential to the smooth running of the Health Service in Shetland; you will be a valued member of the team and may have the opportunity to develop skills in other areas of the facilities team if you wish, such as domestic, catering or laundry. Hours of work for this post will be day shifts Friday to Sunday.
