The successful applicant will join a dynamic Community Child Health Department, within a Combined Child Health Service of NHS Grampian. They will join the Team of Consultants, Associate Specialists and Specialty Doctors who provide Specialist Child Protection Services to children and young people living in and around Aberdeen. The post is for 40 hours per week, fixed term until 31 March 2027.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to work within the new Aberdeen City Bairn’s Hoose. Aberdeen City Bairns' Hoose is based on the Icelandic model, ‘Barnahus’ (child’s house), bringing together services in a ‘four room’ concept - justice, health, social work and recovery support. The post holder will be a key member of the Bairn’s Hoose Team and will have the opportunity to develop the service. They will work as part of NHSG Child Protection Specialist Team in Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and be based there.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.

CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post once CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration is awarded. Those with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
