First Contact Practitioner/MSK Physiotherapist - Band 7 - 18.75 Hours

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a permanent 18.75  hours Band 7 FCP   to join the  FCP and MSK Outpatient Physiotherapy Team in the Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care Foundation Trust.

The Outpatient Physiotherapy Team provides physiotherapy to primarily adult patients with a musculoskeletal problem and occasionally children with specific MSK conditions from Consultant in and around Tameside and Glossop.

We see patients with various musculoskeletal conditions including post- surgical Orthopaedic patients. We have few team members specialising in Chronic Pain / Rheumatology / Hand Specialist with splinting skills.

We are a friendly team, always interested in improving our skills and knowledge to provide better patient care.

The FCP team covers 5 PCN's in Tameside . It is 20 min assessment service.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard of clinical service, performing advanced assessment of patients including those with highly complex presentations and from this formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan, carried out as an autonomous practitioner. Will have acquired specialist knowledge in specialist area.

To provide clinical expertise, acting as First-Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) and make decisions about the best course of action for patients' care (including in relation to undifferentiated conditions). This will involve seeing patients, without prior contact with their GP, in order to establish a rapid and accurate diagnosis and management plan, reducing the need for same day GP appointments.

To collaborate with the Team Manager in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the specialist service and area of specific clinical specialism to ensure a high standard of specialist service provision. Linking with the relevant Professional Lead as required.

To implement, monitor and evaluate Clinical Governance within specialist field, specifically looking at best practice and national guidelines, auditing, service evaluation and research.

To provide a leadership role that supports staff clinically, professionally and educationally in the specialist area.
