Job overview

My name's Neil Toplis and I am the Operational Manager for the Central Norfolk, Child and Young People's teams

In our service we support young people (aged 0-25 years) who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. We have enthusiastic and skilled staff who provide the support that is needed - and they are motivated to make a real difference to young people, their families and carers.

Additionally, we are making a number of positive changes to the service; seeing waiting-lists drop and taking opportunities to think innovatively about our practice.

As an employer, I and Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust are particularly committed to enabling our staff to do the very best they can through support and training, as well as opportunities for progression. We are confident, therefore, that the right candidate will have a real chance to make a positive impact to the lives of young people in Norfolk.

We’re really excited to offer an opportunity for a Family Therapist to work in our diverse multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to offer specialist family therapy interventions to our young people, and being a voice for this practice in our clinical discussions. If appointed you will work across our North and South Youth Teams to truly change the lives of the young people in Norfolk.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Family Therapist is to provide specialist therapeutic interventions to our young people, their families and loved ones. It is a chance to positively influence the way we practice as a team, and to make a lasting difference for the young people we support.

If appointed, you will:

  • Deliver family therapy interventions.
  • Complete quality assessments with young people.
  • Offer support, supervision and informal training to your colleagues.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
  • Undertake other clinical tasks within the team.

You will have a professional qualification in Family Therapy (with appropriate registration with a professional body), and a Qualification in a core profession (medicine, social work, nursing, occupational therapy or psychology).
