The Estates department at Furness General Hospital is a group of highly skilled electrical and mechanical engineers, creative building craftsperson, and dedicated support staff.
We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Maintenance Assistant to join us. You should be experienced in general property maintenance, groundskeeping, and/or handyman duties.
This is a highly rewarding role. Working under the relevant Estates Officer, the successful candidate will embark on a challenging adventure, safely, efficiently, and with patient and staff safety at the heart of their focus.
Working as part of a team, and individually, you will be required to carry out semi-skilled maintenance work within acute and community NHS properties. You will support and assist trade staff to undertake routine maintenance, fault finding/repair, and installation work to allow a safe and fit for purpose environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
The successful candidate must be able to self-motivate, work relatively unsupervised, and be a good communicator. A healthcare background would be advantageous but not essential - as specific training will be provided. There are also opportunities to train as a tradesperson and gain a full trade apprenticeship over time.
