Job overview

This post is Fixed term/Secondment until 31/09/2027 to meet the needs of the service.

Velindre Cancer Centre is a division of the Trust, and one of the leading non-surgical oncology centres in the United Kingdom. The challenge is to go further and achieve the quality of services, patient experience and clinical outcomes that are comparable with the best in Europe and the western world.  In support of this ambition, Velindre University NHS Trust (VUNHST) is building a new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC), which is expected to be open in Autumn 2027.

An exciting position has arisen in the nVCC Project. The Equipment Assistant Technical role will work as part of the Equipment, Commissioning & Migration (ECM) workstream with a professional responsibility to the Equipment Delivery Manager. The equipment of the new hospital will be state-of-the-art and will play a significant role in the transformation of cancer services in South East Wales. Knowledge of the Mutual Investment Model (MIM) is desirable for this role.

Main duties of the job

The key elements of the Equipment Assistant (Technical) post include:

  • Ensuring that the clinical equipment supports the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Liaising with a wide range of stakeholders across the trust, external providers and suppliers to ensure technical requirements are met.
  • Support the ECM workstream to deliver its key equipment objectives.
  • Woking closely with medical professionals, facilities management, and the equipment workstream to ensure smooth operations and effective equipment usage.
  • Assist with inventory management, including tracking and organising hospital equipment.
  • Having a good understanding of Microsoft products to maintain spreadsheets and draft reports when required.

The role is offered as a 29-month secondment or fixed term appointment.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
