Job overview

The role holder will provide a focal point for the Trust in relation to the delivery of Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) in their area of responsibility, ensuring that planning and response arrangements are in place to achieve an effective and co-ordinated response to adverse events, major incidents, Business Continuity, Critical Incidents and ”Emergencies” as defined by the Civil Contingencies Act (2004), by ensuring their area of responsibility is compliant with the EPRR Core Standards.

The post holder will be given portfolio areas of responsibility.

The core portfolios for this role are:

  • Business Continuity - Act as the Trust’s subject matter expert on Business Continuity, advising BC leads, management and staff on legislation, policy, and planning.
  • Geographical Area of Responsibility for Gloucestershire

This Post will require travel across the trust geographical footprint on a regular basis.

There is also an on call requirement with this post, as a Tactical Advisor/ NILO.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop and maintain EPPR relationships and work in partnership with organisation’s including, Emergency Services, ICB’s, NHS EPRR leads,  Emergency Capabilities Unit, Acute Trusts, other Ambulance Service Trusts, Local Authorities, Police Services, British Transport Police, Fire Services, Military and planning leads at high-risk sites such as COMAH and REPPIR sites, airports, railway operators. • Provide and receive information and represent the Trust ensuring that the Trust direction is represented in multiagency forums. This will require a high level of political awareness and using persuasive, motivational, and negotiating skills. • Negotiate and communicate with multi agency partners under difficult  circumstances in emotive situations. • Receive sensitive information from multi-agency partners and negotiate with partners to brief appropriate information to senior SWAST managers, this specifically applies to Counter-Terrorism operations and ambulance support to security operations.
