The role plays a critical part in safeguarding patients, staff & the public by ensuring security services are delivered in full compliance with Trust policies, local operational procedures (LOPs), emergency procedures (EPs) & contingency plans.
Operational responsibilities extend to the control room, where the post holder monitors security systems, responds to incident & fire alarms, manages access control systems, oversees patient, visitor and vehicle movements, & ensures patients are accounted for at all times.
Accurate record keeping is essential, including logging confiscated items, lost property, incident reports (IR1/SIRs), & producing chronological event logs when required.
The post holder supports visitor management processes, including facilitating social and official visits, maintaining access control databases, supervising child visits in line with risk assessments, and undertaking escort duties where required. Participation in designated search teams, including passive and active dog deployments, forms part of the security function.
The post holder is responsible for screening all social & official visitors, contractors, staff and vehicles prior to entry, ensuring only authorised individuals gain access to the secure perimeter.
Safeguard that security services are delivered in compliance with Trust policies, local operational procedures and emergency contingency plans, undertake security checks and patrols in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
Support operations within Security Directorate in accordance with appropriate skills and training. Undertake operational duties within the control room ensuring that site security is maintained through monitoring security systems, responding to incident / fire alarms within the hospital and external hospital buildings, controlling patient / visitors/ vehicle and contractor’s movement within the secure perimeter, and ensure that patients are accounted for at all times.
Represent Entrance building services in accordance with the trust values. Duties include conducting hospital-wide patrols & security checks, testing perimeter systems including PIDs & FST, securing contractor sites, & maintaining accurate key control processes through daily inspections & audit activity.
