Main duties of the job

The Main Duties and Responsibilities are as follows:

  • The post holder will provide leadership for designated team, including the implementation of systems and processes that will support service delivery and staff within the team within the Enhanced care unit
  • The post holder will facilitate the dissemination and implementation of policies to ensure governance is firmly embedded within the team.
  • To provide line management and clinical leadership within the team.
  • Actively seeks out and disseminates information, governance, best practice, and knowledge that support the development of service delivery, ensuring clinical innovation and quality.
  • To highlight and facilitate the opportunity of introduction and development of new practices thereby supporting the implementation of key strategic priorities across the team.
  • Drive clinical changes in service delivery
  • Partaking on the management on call rota

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

I am pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for the position of a experienced band 7 primary care nurse at HMP Bedford. This is a busy local remand prison housing up to 400+ men, situated in the town of Bedford with good road and rail links.

The Primary care nurse at HMP Bedford will oversee all aspects of the Enhanced care unit ensuring the provision of high-quality care within the multi-disciplinary team.  The post holder will adhere to both local & national standards, contributing to strategic planning of the service.

Ideally you will have experience in a secured setting, although this is not essential.

The post holder will also partake in the Senior leadership team on call rota.

The successful candidate will join the HMP Bedford senior healthcare team, reporting directly to the Head of Healthcare and be accountable to Head of Specialist and Secured Service Bedfordshire.
