Job overview

We are seeking to recruit an Education wellbeing practitioner to join the Tower Hamlets Education Wellbeing Service (THEWS).

THEWS is a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) established following the government Green Paper: Transforming Children & Young People’s Mental Health Provision. The service has undergone recent expansion. For further information about our service please see our website: https://www.elft.nhs.uk/thews

The three core functions of a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) are:

  • Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people (CYP) with mild-to-moderate mental health problems.
  • Supporting the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce, develop and deliver the whole school/college approach.
  • Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help CYP to get the right support and stay in education.

THEWS is part of the Tower Hamlets Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) based in Whitechapel, East London.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will deliver and assess outcome focused, evidence-based interventions to children and young people with mild-to-moderate mental health problems, and their families, parents, and carers. They will support the senior mental health lead to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach. They will also liaise with supervisors to agree appropriate signposting and referrals for children and young people.

In line with Trust policy, the service has adopted a hybrid clinical working model of direct face to face and remote working as appropriate.

The service embraces continual improvement and well-being of the staff and has a high degree of enthusiasm for quality improvement and working together with partner agencies to provide the highest quality service to the population we serve.
