The Bristol Eye Hospital (BEH) at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Foundation Trust (UHBW) is looking to grow its talented team of clinicians to drive an ambitious future vision of care across Bristol and Weston. Applications are warmly welcomed for this a one-year, fixed term, full time Primary Care Clinical Fellow post, ideally commencing on early August 2026. The post itself is designed to provide emergency ophthalmology services for patients attending an open-door Emergency Department. This post may give the opportunity to rotate through subspecialties and potentially help with Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) subject to meeting competencies.

The BEH is a highly regarded Regional Centre for Ophthalmology which sits within the Division of Surgery at UHBW (recently rated Outstanding by the CQC). It provides a tertiary referral service for glaucoma, as well as providing support for the glaucoma care of patients in the closely linked supra-regional corneal, vitreoretinal, uveitis and paediatric services. The service is supported by a highly developed and pioneering optometry shared-care service, as well as a well-integrated electronic patient record with long-standing historical data.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to play an active role in the running of the service. They will also be expected to participate in the workload of the hospital and be capable of working to a flexible timetable.
