An exciting job opportunity has become available within the busy ECG Department here at Stepping Hill Hospital.

The successful candidate will be part of a friendly and dedicated team, supporting the effective booking of patients for their diagnostic appointments and helping to maintain the smooth flow of patients through the department. This is a key front‑line role, ensuring a positive experience for patients and supporting the delivery of a high-quality, efficient service.

You will be responsible for a range of administrative and reception duties, including managing appointment systems, liaising with clinical staff, handling patient enquiries both face‑to‑face and over the telephone, and ensuring patient records are accurately maintained. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment are essential.

This role would suit someone who is organised, flexible, and committed to providing excellent patient care, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Main duties of the job

As a Waiting List Officer for the ECG department your main duties will cover:

  • Managing waiting lists by priority and date order
  • Booking those next on the list to a date and time that suits them
  • Answering and signposting general enquiries from patients calling our appointments line
  • Working collaboratively with the directorate team to ensure the capacity & demand balance is right
  • Organising your workload and being organised
  • Helping to supervise when needed the reception team
  • Covering on reception when needed
  • working with CDC providers to ensure capacity is filled
