Job overview

The Specialist Eating Disorders Service has expanded to offer early intervention and treatment to those adults presenting with an eating disorders to the Community Mental Health Teams and young people transitioning from CAMHS.  As part of this exciting development an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Specialist Clinician who is either registered as: an Occupational Therapist, an RMN  or a Dietitian to join the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Specialist Eating Disorders Service.

The  successful candidate will work collaboratively with the team to develop and deliver the implementation of individual, group and family treatment programmes that address the complex physical, psychological and psychosocial needs of the clients and their families/carers enabling the safe, efficient and high quality delivery and development of eating disorder services in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

Applicants should have significant and extensive knowledge and experience of working with eating disorders.

The Specialist Eating Disorders Service aims to ensure that service provision for eating disorders is high quality, innovative, and equitably delivered across Gwent, with a focus on early detection and intervention, inclusivity, person centred, relationship based, recovery focused and trauma informed.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job will be

  • To work as Registered Practitioner within a community team which accepts referrals from a wide range of multi-agency partners as well as providing an effective and timely response to urgent referrals. • The post holder will take a lead role in the development of effective and preventative Eating Disorders interventions. They will have a range of skills and knowledge base to deliver clinical aspects of the role and will be competent to complete the work as an autonomous practitioner within professional practice guidelines. • The post holder will provide professional expertise in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care and have a good knowledge of the psychological, physical and social consequences affect young people and adults with an eating disorder. They will be required to provide a range of interventions, including consultations, mental state assessments, risk assessment, family liaison. • To offer advice training and consultation to colleagues in Primary and Secondary care, GPs, DGH’s, carers and multi-agency partners.
