Job overview

The Arts Therapies Service take referrals for patients where a clear clinical need is identified across all localities within CPFT. Referrals are taken from Children’s, Adults and Older Peoples Directorates both in Acute and Community settings. The Arts Therapies Service delivers groups and individual sessions on Wards for inpatients and delivers sessions for community patients within the Arts Therapies department main base and where relevant in Community bases for patients in the community.

The postholder will provide specialist Drama/Art Therapy assessment and intervention, both individual and group, and to review the effectiveness of interventions using outcome measures as required by the Arts Therapies Professional Lead.

Main duties of the job

  • To work collaboratively with people, their carers and families, and multidisciplinary teams and to plan Drama/Art Therapy interventions.
  • To manage a specialist case load, providing assessment, diagnoses, treatment and monitoring of individuals identified needs across the Arts Therapies Service.
  • To participate in multi-disciplinary/ multi agency working within the Arts Therapies. and with key partners.

  • To participate in the delivery of Drama/Art Therapy under the guidance of a specialist band 7 Arts Therapist and the Lead Arts Therapist by managing a caseload of clients.
  • To maintain professional standards in accordance with the relevant professional body BADTH/BAAT and the professional regulator (Health and Care Professions Council)
  • To participate in audit, service evaluation and research activities when required
  • To participate in the delivery of Drama/Art Therapy under the guidance of specialist band 7 Arts Therapist and the Lead Arts Therapist by managing a caseload of clients.
  • The post holder will demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills and have undertaken appropriate post registration training.
  • To be proficient in the assessment, identification, treatment and management of the emotional and psychological needs of the population requiring prolonged, in-depth concentration. This includes risk assessment, assessment of complex conditions.
  • To frequently communicate and receive highly complex sensitive information with people; who have experienced trauma/abuse /highly complex needs; their relatives/carers and other professionals.
  • To have the specialist knowledge / skill to apply psychodynamic formulations and theory to work with individuals, groups and organizations
