Job overview

Radiotherapy Physics provides a comprehensive Physics service to the Addenbrooke’s Oncology Centre ensuring the safe and accurate use of high dose ionising radiation to treat patients with cancer, whilst maintaining a safe environment for other patients, visitors and staff.

The post holder will work within the treatment planning and Mould Room areas (as required), as part of a team or independently, providing a highly specialist clinical and technical service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible, together with physicists and other members of the planning group, for preparing treatment plans for patients undergoing radiotherapy. The duties will include the operation of computer systems for treatment plans and performing calculations relating to patient doses. Within the Mould Room the post-holder will have direct contact with patients and work with Doctors and Radiographers to produce individualised immobilisation devices. The post holder will be involved in the clinical developments of the department through the introduction of new techniques and the training of others.  The post holder will be clinically responsible to the consultant on whose behalf any duties directly related to patient care are discharged.
