Job overview

The Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team are looking to add a Diversity and Inclusion Officer to their team. The Diversity and Inclusion Officer will support and advise the Health Board to meet its statutory responsibilities, and move beyond these, in our ambition to demonstrate continued improvement as a diverse and inclusive organisation.

Specific objectives and areas of work can be found in the full Job Description, but the role will mainly focus around:

Providing equality, diversity and inclusion support to service areas/teams, to embed equality and diversity considerations into their work.

Working autonomously to manage elements of specific processes, projects or activities to support the equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) workplan.

Raising the profile of equality, diversity and inclusion across the organisation and building capacity at all levels to deliver on equality  objectives.

Providing appropriate advice, support and guidance to managers and staff regarding their equality, diversity and inclusion duties.

Main duties of the job

The Diversity and Inclusion Officer will work alongside the EDI Manager and the wider EDI team and have strong connections both to internal and external partners.

They will support the EDI Manager and the wider team to implement the Health Board's Strategic Equality Objectives. This will include working on a range of projects, ensuring that they are inclusive of the needs of our service users and staff, and that they are compliant with relevant EDI legislation.

Other duties include developing and supporting the delivery of general awareness training, facilitating staff networks, attending community events, and monitoring activity to ensure that the Health Board remains on target to achieve national and local equality objectives.

The Diversity and Inclusion Officer will support the development of clear, articulate reports and  provision of specialist advice based on evidence and performance information and best practice in relation to EDI, in order to provide assurance on the Health Board's compliance with relevant legislation and progress against its stated equality objectives.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
