The role will be responsible for delivery of operational performance targets, including access targets, delivery of financial balance and the quality of services to patients. They will work closely with the Divisional Director, Clinical Directors, General and Deputy Managers and the Divisional Management Team to make a positive contribution to the delivery of services across the local health community and relevant networks.

In this senior position, you will shape the direction of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Sexual & Reproductive Health and Bladder & Bowel Services, ensuring high‑performing, sustainable, and compassionate clinical care. Like service manager roles in other NHS women’s health settings where operational delivery, waiting list performance, and service mobilisation are core responsibilities you will be the driving force behind high‑quality service delivery across the Health Board.

Main duties of the job

Working with the relevant Clinical Directors, Senior Nurses, Service Leads, General Manager and Deputy General Manager, the post holder will be expected to provide professional management support, leadership and expertise to ensure that services for the Directorates under the managerial remit of the Families and Therapies Division. are delivered effectively and efficiently in line with Health Board and Divisional objectives.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

In conjunction with the Clinical Directors, direct, lead and motivate the relevant Directorates, ensuring a high standard of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of services and that activity is fully aligned to the business of the HB, and is in line with local and national policy.

To promote good communication with the Clinical Directors and Senior Nurse for the Directorates and to promote effective communication within this Management Team to ensure clear and effective leadership for the Directorates.

To exercise judgment involving highly complex data and situations which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options in order to ensure the effective daily management of the Directorates.

To work closely with the Divisional management Team, Clinical Directors, Senior Nurses and Service Managers in the development of strategic and operational plans for the relevant services. To formulate and contribute to long term strategic plans which involve uncertainty, and may impact on the entire organisation and to ensure that they fit within the ABUHB’s strategic plans and local and national policy.
