Job overview

It's an exciting time at Kingston & Richmond NHSFT as we continue to work through the integration of our hospital and community services to ensure that we are delivering for our local population.

In this clinical leadership role you will be supported to lead on significant programmes of work which will deliver for our colleagues and patients. You will bring your clinical knowledge as well as your skills in influencing, data analysis and programme delivery to drive forward an exciting portfolio which will span both clinical and corporate services.

You will work closely with the executive team, the deputy executives and colleagues as well as wider stakeholders across the organisation. You will also gain exposure to the Chief Nurse role and will deputise for the CNO at local, regional and national level.

Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 16th February 2026.

Main duties of the job

The Director of Clinical Improvement reports to the Chief Nurse and supports the delivery of their agenda across a variety of workstreams. These include delivery of a robust quality assurance and quality improvement framework, transformation of the urgent and emergency care pathway, non-medical job planning, workforce productivity and ongoing integration of community and hospital services.

The role will support major transformation workstreams and help the organisation to achieve sustainability and integration across our clinical pathways. The role will lead on non-medical job planning and quality assurance processes and will support across a range of other workstreams.

The role will need to build relationships and influence delivery across a range of portfolios as part of efficiency, productivity, and major programme delivery. Likely to include digital, technology and workforce transformation as well as a series of projects focussed on successful implementation of tactical CIP and strategic service changes, this role is fundamental to creating the expert support to the divisional and operational clusters, as well as to the corporate nursing function, to successfully deliver changes that improve services, increase value, reduce unwarranted variation in costs, and improve the delivery capability of nursing, midwifery and AHPs within the organisation.
