Applications are invited for the role of Director of Breast Screening for North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Service.
The North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Service, as part of the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, operates Breast Screening and Symptomatic services from dedicated imaging units at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Furness General Hospital and Westmorland General Hospital.
In addition, we operate two mobile units in the community.
The North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Service is a highly performing service for Breast Screening with a dedicated, caring and professional team of Consultant Radiologists, Consultant Radiographers, Advanced Practitioners, Mammographers, Assistant Practitioners, Clinical Support Workers, Programme Management and Admin teams.
The unit is fully digital with a robust PACS system. Our Radiology team is also part of the strong and effective UHMB Breast Multidisciplinary Team alongside members of the Surgical, Histopathology, Breast Care Nurses and Oncology services.
Main duties of the job
The Programme Director for Breast Screening has overall accountability for the safe and effective provision of the breast screening service. This is from the identification of the eligible screening cohort to the point of diagnosis as commissioned by NHS England.
You will:
- Have responsibility for the leadership, management, performance, quality, governance and coordination of the service
- Provide leadership and a behavioural role model for provision of compassionate care within the breast screening service
