This role is to support the implementation of a new Blood Establishment Computer System (BECS), within the Welsh Blood Service division of the Trust.

We have an exciting Digital Services team opportunity for a Digital Programme Manager, to work collaboratively across the Trust and wider NHS Wales, to provide transformative digital systems and insight-led services.

We are in an exciting period of change including opening a new world class cancer centre to extend and enhance specialist cancer treatment along with delivery of cancer care closer to home at regional sites. For the Welsh Blood Service, we are transforming blood and transplant services, improving current capabilities alongside developing new services including plasma for medicines.

An ambitious digital strategy underpins this, which will revolutionise the way in which we deliver services – from co-producing innovative technologies, working on digital inclusion, to embedding data & insight into our everyday.  Our team are here to deliver new digital solutions and excellent everyday digital service, to improve services and outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The Digital Programme Manager will play a key role in the successful delivery of a new Blood Establishment Computer System (BECS).

  • Work with a wide range of stakeholders, establishing credibility, ensuring the safe implementation of new digital system(s).
  • Demonstrate the required strategic, planning and performance skills, working with suppliers, digital stakeholders such as Digital Health and Care Wales and Welsh Government advisory teams.
  • Be responsible for agreeing project quality expectations with stakeholders and managing business processes to ensure the Project meets stakeholders’ needs and expectations.
  • Understanding of critical path activities and project dependencies is essential.
  • Lead the successful delivery of the BECS programme, to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost.
  • Project Management elements of the Project producing a result that is capable of achieving the benefits defined within the Business Case and the Project Initiation Document.
  • To be responsible for setting, controlling and managing delegated project budgets
