This an exciting opportunity for passionate colleagues to join the specialist team at a time of expansion across South Yorkshire to reduce disparity and ensure equitable access to the Eating Disorders Service. The post holder will work as part of the Sheffield Eating Disorders Service Multi-Disciplinary Team to implement and plan care to service users in their respective geographical areas.

To become a member of the SHSC eating disorders team providing a specialist community service to work with service users across South Yorkshire. The Sheffield Eating Disorders Service covers South Yorkshire (Sheffield hub and regional spokes within Barnsley, Rotherham & Doncaster). The professional will be expected to attend planned clinics across South Yorkshire to deliver care close to patient’s home. In addition to planned clinics there may be occasions when colleagues are expected to meet with patient in other settings i.e. inpatient setting to support person-centred care planning. To work in partnership with service users and other agencies to ensure effective liaison and communication.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the provision of high-quality dietetic service to a clinical caseload in eating disorders, using a high level of skills and knowledge as an independent practitioner.

To contribute to the development and implementation of evidence based clinical and teaching practice. Providing specialist advice and education in the designated speciality.

To provide high quality patient care, clinical governance reports and reporting on key performance indicators

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The dietitian is responsible for a clinical caseload providing specialist advice to patients and carers by undertaking the following:

Determine/diagnose the appropriate dietetic treatment and develop effective management plans in respect of planned therapeutic  intervention.

Dietetic assessment and calculation of dietetic requirements of referred patients considering medical, biochemical, social, cultural, and psychological factors.

Provide nutrition and dietary advice suitable to the patient’s medical, biochemical, social and cultural factors which is based on current evidence, incorporating local professional and national guidelines and standards.

Work with patients to enable them to achieve targets overcoming barriers to change including dietary, environmental, and social factors.
