Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian to join our band 5 rotations to provide a service to a variety of inpatient and outpatient areas including respiratory, diabetes, surgical, care of the elderly, paediatrics and oncology.  If you enjoy working as part of a team and using your initiative this is the job for you. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop clinical and professional skills within a dynamic and supportive team. The post is suitable for newly qualified dietitians or band 5 dietitians looking for further experience.

Please note that although this is a 9 month post, there is a possibility of a permanent band 5 role coming up during the duration of the post which the applicant could apply for.

If large numbers of applications are received the advert may close early so we recommend submitting your application as soon as possible.

Main duties of the job

The role will primarily involve inpatient work with patients across a variety of specialities; receiving oral and enteral feeding. There will also be the opportunity for outpatient work in general dietetic clinics and to be involved in teaching and training of nurses and medical staff as well as patient education sessions.

The post holder will work closely with our senior dietitians who will help train and support you along with providing opportunities to experience other areas of dietetics.

Developing resources and carrying out quality improvement projects will be encouraged to maintain our high profile within the hospital.

We provide student training for a number of universities  and the post holder will be involved with this.

This post offers excellent opportunities for professional and personal development. The department is committed to CPD and we offer a wide range of in-house training. You will be invited to regular professional update meetings across the whole team. In addition we are closely connected with our colleagues across Dorset and run a Dorset wide education and networking event twice yearly.

We would be very happy to have a conversation about specific areas of interest in the rotations as well how your skill set fits with our service and your development needs.

We welcome applications from current dietetic students who are due to finish their training and will be eligible for HCPC registration in 2026.
