An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated band 6 Midwife to join the Diabetic service for Maternity at ESTH!

The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist midwifery care for women with diabetes in pregnancy. They will support the development of diabetes services across the Trust, working closely with obstetricians, endocrinologists, diabetes specialist nurses, and other members of the maternity team. This role is developmental in nature, with the post holder expected to grow into autonomy and leadership within the diabetes midwifery service.

Main duties of the job

Band 6 Diabetes Midwife

Fundamentally required to undertake all clinical activities that are required of a midwife.

Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care in accordance with best practice.

Provide specialist midwifery care for women/birthing people with diabetes in pregnancy

Support antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Follow up on examinations, test results and any other specialist service appointments for your caseload of women/birthing people as required, ensuring seamless care is provided.

Act as a chaperone for any specialist clinics being conducted if the clinic environment, as required.

Continuously develop clinical skills to meet the needs of the woman/birthing person, babies and families.

Monitor and evaluate standards of care in conjunction with other colleagues a part of the multi-professional team, ensuring best practice.

Assist the midwifery team leader in the implementation of clinical governance within the clinical area.
