We are looking for an individual to work with the diabetes podiatry service at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust potentially working across 10 locations. This is an exciting developmental opportunity.

You will have a proven record of excellence in providing diabetes podiatry and the ability to function as an independent podiatry practitioner. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and highly developed clinical skills are essential. The role involves the management of a high-risk caseload in both in-patient and out-patient settings, teaching and undertaking research work. You will work closely with the community podiatry team, MDFT active foot team to provide a seamless service to the population provided by our department.

Staff are supported with appraisal (PDP), dedicated supporting professional activity (SPA) time and in the longer term, rotation onto internal hospital-based training.

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for the management of a caseload of high risk patients, providing a comprehensive assessment of podiatric need, relevant health education and referral to other health care professionals as required.

The main duties of this post are to act as the Clinical Specialist Podiatrist in the field of Diabetes and wound care for both Primary and Secondary Care as part of a Multi-disciplinary Team providing cover for the team,

Carry out home visit for housebound patients

Ensure effective communications are initiated, maintained and developed with other health and social services professionals in order to promote the podiatry service.

To be responsible for the day to day planning of clinical workload monitoring waiting lists and clinically prioritising patients.

To maintain Registration with Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) and degree/diploma in Podiatry and local analgesia administration  certificate.

To plan, participate and actively contribute to departmental and team  meetings.

Provide clinical leadership, advice and support on diabetes to other podiatrists and health care professionals.

Maintain accurate clinical records of all patient consultations and related work carried out at each clinical session in accordance with Professional Standards and Trust policy.
