Job overview

We are looking for a qualified member of staff to help recruit Oncology patients to a wide range of commercial and non-commercial research trials within a long established research team.

The Post-holder will start at Band 5, over a 12 month period work through a research competency package provided by the Learning and Development Team, and once training is completed to the required level at the end of 12 months, will progress to Band 6.

The Oncology research team prides itself on delivering high quality clinical research. The research team works closely with multidisciplinary teams and works in an embedded way with frontline clinical staff. Team members have the opportunity to take ownership of their own portfolio of clinical trials whilst being supported by senior members of the team who have extensive research and clinical experience. This allows staff to work in a supported yet autonomous way. We are committed to staff development both as a team and on an individual basis. Research is seen as a core element of our Trust activity. Our organisation is known nationally as a forward thinking and innovative organisation in terms of clinical research delivery.

Main duties of the job

The role will include the delivery of novel chemotherapy and immunotherapy within our dedicated research treatment room, and prior experience in oncology would be expected. Training will be provided in research trial management according to the principles of GCP, and as a Band 5 the post-holder will be expected to work as a study coordinator under the guidance, support and supervision of Band 6s. Once the 12 month training period has been completed, the post-holder will be expected to work autonomously as a Band 6 with their own caseload of trials.  We encourage attendance at MDT's, working autonomously and as part of the team, and looking outside the box at ways to recruit patients to our many research trials. We offer a friendly, adaptable environment to aid development in research.
