Development Lead in Clinical Physiology - Echocardiography
This position is an exciting prospect for an enthusiastic individual that is willing to expand and develop our service in paediatric echocardiography. This role would suit someone that is able to implement positive changes in an exciting and dynamic department that will help support and define our growing echocardiography service. They will be involved in service development within echo and paediatric cardiology to improve patient outcomes and experience within cardiology, as well as promote excellence and safety for the physiology staff and wider team. This position includes a commitment to clinical practice performing echocardiography in children with a large spectrum of congenital, inherited and acquired heart conditions.
Paediatric experience is essential. This post includes a 10% Recruitment and Retention Premium
Main duties of the job
- Develop and lead Education Plans for echocardiographers within Clinical Physiology ensuring the education, training and continuing development of cardiac physiology staff is planned and delivered effectively
- Actively working to improve retention of trained staff within the team by developing a diverse structure that enables growth and progression
- Support the area in establishing and maintaining strong links with the multidisciplinary education & training programmes within the Trust
- Facilitate the development of a knowledgeable, competent and capable workforce
- Ensure that induction, education and continuing professional development programs for trained cardiac physiologists within echocardiography are fully implemented and that effective review and evaluation systems are in place
- Lead the development of a culture of practice and learning underpinned by research-based protocols and pathways of care
- Maintain a good working relationship with the divisional education teams, corporate education teams, academic partners, professional bodies and organisations
- Represent the clinical speciality on local, regional and national strategic working parties, steering groups and initiatives
- Act as a resource for both internal and external staff in developing career pathways in order to equip cardiac physiologists to practice in the current environment and identifying future potential leaders for succession planning
