Full time permanent Deputy Ward Manager Delamere Daycase Unit -Wirral

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate for a  Deputy Ward Manager who will be based in the chemotherapy treatment unit at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Wirral. This position is for a Band 6 at 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday.

The individual should have extensive oncology experience and have completed the SACT UKONs Passport. Be able to demonstrate good leadership skills. You would also be required to deputise in the absence of the Ward Manager and complete managerial duties.

We are looking to recruit highly motivated individuals with excellent organisation, communication skills. Someone who is a great leader in there current team and  wants to gain transferable skills they are able to use to in there career. The post holder will be supporting staff and patients within an outpatient environment and play a major role in supporting the ward manager in future nursing developments. Main duties of the job

Duties of the Deputy Ward Manager

  • Responsible for safely assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care to patients attending the department
  • To offer the patient and families advice to manage toxicity’s related to their treatment and support to address their holistic needs.Education & learning
  • Supervise junior staff and participate in the teaching and assessing of pre and post registration students
  • Offer advice, support and education to clinical teams across the trust where appropriate
  • Act as a link nurse in key nursing roles to ensure the safe delivery of the SACT serviceLeadership & Management
  • Post holder will provide clinical leadership to support the delivery of evidence based patient centered care
  • Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of care and providing clinical leadership to others
  • They will take responsibility for the Quality Management of their designated areas with a specific emphasis on Infection Control, Leading a Nurse Led Service and Patient Safety.
  • Manage local resolution of patient concerns and complaints
  • Escalate risk/issues and effectively action to minimise future risks
  • Deputise in the absence of the manager

  • To develop patient pathways and be responsible for developing the SACT nursing service
  • To participate in quality improvement initiatives within the division. Lead clinical audits.
