Are you an experienced RMN/RNLD/RGN  nurse looking for a Deputy Ward Manager role and want a new challenge? We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Deputy ward manager to be part of our team on Iris Ward. We believe in supporting our energetic junior staff hence the need  to strengthen the nurse leadership to provide safe, effective, efficient, compassionate, and  equitable care to people who access our services.  You will therefore be an excellent and experienced practitioner, committed to the concept of person centred care.

Iris Ward is a QED accredited service, rated as ‘Good’ by the CQC in September 2019.  The ward is part of the comprehensive eating disorder service provided at St Ann’s Hospital through Specialist Services at North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT).  St Ann’s Eating Disorder Service also comprises of a large outpatient department, which provides care and treatment to those with eating disorders in North Central and North East London, and a day programme.

The environment is fast paced and innovative. Staff working in the team report having to work well as a team but also as an autonomous professional. Good assessment, formulation and care planning skills are key in this role. Training as support is offered regarding therapeutic interventions available within the offer.

Main duties of the job

MAIN DUTIES

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Conducting individual assessments and interventions for service users experiencing enduring mental health illness, namely Anorexia nervosa.
  • Providing specialist clinical care, including risk assessment, care planning, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Offering expertise in eating disorders care, contributing to multidisciplinary team discussions and developing new protocols.
  • Administering, reviewing, and providing guidance on medication in consultation with medical staff.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensure compliance with clinical governance and safeguarding policies.

Managerial Duties:

  • Deputise for the Ward Manager and assisting in the day-to-day operational management of the ward.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support clinical and non-clinical staff, including students.
  • Lead on delivering dementia-related training within the team.
  • Manage complaints and incidents in line with Trust policy.

Education, Training, and Development:

  • Engage in professional development, supervision, and mandatory training.
  • Support workforce planning and service development initiatives.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and service evaluations to enhance care quality.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and liaise with external agencies.
  • Provide information, support, and education to service users, carers, and families.
  • Ensure effective documentation and reporting.
